Cultural misconceptions smashed by one game of curling
In his defense, John Flinn wrote this excellent article about curling, well in fact about having an experience where his own preconceptions were shattered. I think it takes enormous self-confidence and personal insight to devote a whole column to a story about changing your perspective.
Curling, I discovered, is far from boring. It’s subtle. We over-caffeinated Americans don’t do subtle very well, which is really a shame. It’s the key to appreciating what’s wonderful about not just Canada, but much of the rest of the world.
